The Reminiscence Reunion Club (RRC) aims to support, as well as enhance the qulity of life of people with Dementia and their carers through reminiscence sessions.
By a "reminiscence session" is meant an organized or thematically structured group meeting aimed at helping the Dementia sufferer to recover memories of earlier episodes of his/her life and, in doing so to recover or strengthen a sense of personal identity, which is typically impaired in this condition.
The Dementia sufferer is given the extra time, reassurance and encouragement that may be needed to join in, and by being placed at the centre of the activities, experiences being a valued member of a friendly social group
People will be eligible to attend the reminiscence sessions if they have been referred from a Community Mental Health Team, upto a maximum enrolement number of 50 couples (each couple comprising one Dementia suffer and carer)
